This course is an introduction to the basics of modeling, design, planning and control of robotics systems. It includes survey coverage of relevant results from geometry, kinematics, statics, dynamics and control theory.
Really a course in selected basic concepts of robotics.
Robotics includes several other enormous fields, ranging from abstract mathematics and theoretical computer science through mathematical modelling, system design, and computer programming, through specialized hardware, formal representations, and algorithms to gear and motor catalogs, soldering, and hardware-software debugging.
Robotics has enough scope to accomodate anyone's intellectual interests: substantial parts of the course content will be guided by individual or collective student interest.
Students will be expected to be actively involved, and there will be more conversations than lectures.
