Cloud computing is one of the advanced computer science areas that integrates all computing layers, from computer architecture to various applications. In this course, we explore the field of cloud computing, encompassing a wide range of topics. While emphasizing the basic cloud computing principles and paradigms at the beginning, we will discuss some research problems, approaches, implementations, and potential evolution in the future as well. This course will cover fundamental topics such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, virtualization, and multi-tenancy. Additionally, this course will touch on some advanced topics and applications in clouds including SLA management, resource provisioning, big-data analytics, service workflows, and the performance optimization of those applications. Students will be exposed to recent research papers to understand deep pictures of research problems, underlying theories, and engineering around those topics.
