What are your research interests?
I spent last summer working on new methods for stereo video synchronization, though my current work is on creating plausible stereo video streams from mono video. My research is part of an ongoing collaboration with Eastman Kodak on 3D vision and machine learning.

Where are you from originally?
I grew up just outside of Chicago and spent most of my life in the Midwest, ending up at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for college.

What do you do on a typical day?
After taking the bus to work, I take care of email before attending the course which I'm TAing. Then, I write up the next quiz, take care of homework, and head to my first class of the day. After that, I alternate reading research papers and work on my own publications. I have one last class, then head home. I eat dinner early, do a bit more work afterwards (at least when there's a paper deadline coming up), then relax.

What are your goals for the year?
I'm finishing up a paper for internal publication at Kodak, with a corresponding talk, so my first goal is to survive that. ;) After that, I'd like to do a good job as a TA, teach a few lectures, and (if possible) get another paper published before the area exam.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?
If everything goes well, I'll probably continue my research with Kodak for a few years before making a more serious decision. Eventually, though, I'd like to teach.

How do you like to spend your free time?
Free time? What's that?

Just kidding.

I play basketball on Mondays and volleyball on Thursdays as part of the Graduate Organization Group (GOG). In addition, I spend a lot of time watching movies (independent and otherwise) with my wife, and we're frequent patrons of a few local coffeeshops. A few times a week, we get together with friends to relax, chat, and play board/card games.
