| What are your research interests? | |
| From a broad perspective, I investigate infrastructures for building and connecting large computer systems which generally involves research in operating or distributed systems or middleware. The practical problems that I solve don't normally appear in small systems, so I target large enterprise systems (e.g., Google, Ebay, Stock Trading systems). | |
| Where are you from originally? | |
| I was raised in California. I did my undergrad at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. | |
| What do you do on a typical day? | |
| Ummm... I reboot my modified Linux kernel about 5 times, bang my head and fingers on the keyboard until things work, investigate hot systems researchers with Arrvindh Shriraman, and GIVE IT TO ANYONE THAT WANTS IT ON THE BASKETBALL COURT. | |
| What are your goals for this year? | |
| I get to focus on my research! I have two ongoing projects. My advisor, Kai Shen, and I are looking for performance bugs in distributed server systems (e.g., JBoss and WebSphere). I am also collaborating with Terence Kelly and Alex Zhang of HP labs on cross-platform models of server system performance. | |
| What do you plan to do after you graduate? | |
| I would like to teach in California. | |
| How do you like to spend your time? | |
| I like to play basketball, watch movies, and listen to rhythm and blues music. | |
