Recent Work in Knowledge Extraction at K-CAP '09
We'll be discussing recent work in knowledge extraction, with Jonathan Gordon giving a report of the K-CAP '09 conference from the beginning of the month and discussion of Hakki Cankaya and Dan Moldovan's paper "Method for Extracting Commonsense Knowledge", in which they use Extended WordNet to create a knowledge base by unsound inferences yet achieve a surprising human rating of 98% good axioms. The paper also raises questions of the level of specificity at which knowledge should be represented to be most useful.
