To use as a speakerphone, press the "Speaker" button at the bottom-right of the phone. Its LED will light. If you are initiating a call, you should hear the dial tone and you can now dial normally. If you are answering an incoming call you should hear the caller. Hangup by pressing "Speaker" again. You can pickup the handset at any time to turn off the speakerphone. To resume speakerphone, press "Speaker" and hang up the handset.

For those interminable telecons, your microphone can be toggled on and off with the first triangular button at the top of the phone, labelled "Mic". This will be flashing when the mic is on, and steady when it's off. But since that's impossible to remember, use the fact that the red LED at the bottom right of the phone will be on when the mic is on.

From the UTD manual for the office phones:
Up to eight parties can be included in a conference call. To Establish a Conference Call:
  • With call in progress, ask party to hold.
Line: 38 to 38
Phone number for the conference room (CSB 703) is (585) 275-5329 (x5-5329 on campus).

Just like your office phone, dialing out from 703 requires "9" for a local call. And dialing toll calls (long distance, not toll-free 800/888) requires an access code.
For a conference call in 703 using the "spaceship" speakerphone, the following basic instructions are from Kai Shen via JoMarie Carpenter:
  1. Call first person, ask them to hold.
  2. Press FLASH
Line: 45 to 47

  1. Repeat 2 & 3 until everyone has been called.
  2. Press FLASH to bring everyone together.

Again, I believe it is not possible to setup a conference call where multiple parties can call in themselves.

Again, I believe it is not possible to setup a conference call where multiple parties can call in themselves (without using a service like ReadyConference.
