Liudvikas Bukys worked at the University of Rochester from 1980 to 2005. He began by working on the RIG distributed operating system, an intellectual precursor to the CMU Accent and Mach operating systems. From there he moved to distributed systems projects (e.g. implementation of network-transparent message passing protocols) running on VAX machines (and Xerox Alto workstations), operating systems and parallel computation work on BBN Butterfly multiprocessors, and a large number of projects on various generations of Sun workstations, including machine vision, robotics, virtual reality. On more modern multiprocessor systems he has done parellel computing work on IBM Regatta, Sun SunFire? , and Linux clusters. From 1996-2002 he served the University administration as Associate Vice Provost for Computing, responsible for computer security and IT architecture. At the same time he maintained his departmental role, as a Senior Research Associate and Research Scientist. Since 2005 he has been a consultant at Allworx Corporation (formerly InSciTek? Microsystems), mostly doing work in image and color science as well as some computer security work.
