If you decide to install shared software for the department, please look over the current
guidelines for doing so.
Shared software installed in /usr/grads/
If you would like to install something and make it available to others:
- build and install somewhere other than
/usr/grads/ (space is limited)
- use the
--prefix option for configure scripts
- make sure the program executes correctly without any special environment settings
- put a link to the binaries and man pages in
/usr/grads/{bin,man} with the version number appended
- add it to the list here
Software currently installed in /usr/grads (likely incomplete):

In case you were having problems getting Matlab to start up because of a glibc error, here's a simple workaround you should drop in your environment (via cshrc or similar):
# workaround to deal with Matlab crashing on startup
setenv MALLOC_CHECK_ 0
