Unveiled on Valentine's day 1946. Cost, $6 Million (2002 dollars). ENIAC contained 17,468 vacuum tubes, 7,200 crystal diodes, 1,500 relays, 70,000 resistors, 10,000 capacitors and around 5 million hand-soldered joints. It weighed 27 tons, was roughly 8.5 by 3 by 80 feet and consumed 150 kW of power. Card input, printer output. A multiplication of two 10-digit numbers took 2800 microseconds: a rate of 357 per second. A division or square root took up to 28,600 microseconds: 35 per second.

HOT FLASH!

UR IT has now installed All the Matlab toolboxes on our computers in GAV244. This is a huge upgrade in functionality. I find it incredible! Check out Matlab products, look down the lefthand side to see what toolboxes there are. Everything you'll need for any class, is my guess. Congratulations, you've won the jackpot. Enjoy and please report any problems to me. -- CB 3/1/11
