Greetings,
I enjoyed your site. I have a simple question, if I may. Is it
possible to retro-fit an air-cooled gas VW Bus to Diesel?
Thanks,
Christopher.

You need the:
- Diesel engine & Fuel injection
- Bell housing
- Oil pan, oil pump (or at least the lower part of the oil pump
with the pickup tube)
- The motor mounts and beams.
- Transmission (it has different gearing)
For the aircooled vanagon you also need:
- Radiator and radiator hoses. (The radiator mounts are supposedily already
there, but you probably want to cut out a hole for a lower grille
as in the diesel and later WC vanagons.
I think the easiest swap is to buy the whole engine+driveline
from a crashed Diesel vanagon and swap it as a whole package.
