The TwitterHealth project at the University of Rochester mines social media such as Twitter to extract public health information. Social media can be used to track the spread of infectious disease, to discover factors such as air pollution and lifestyle behaviors that impact health, to locate sources of food poisoning, and more. The project is a collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and researchers at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
