But this is not a talk about regrets.  I have had a truly wonderful life.  That’s me on the left there, with my Mom in 1959, and again on the right at age seven, with my parents and my sister and brother.  We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but we certainly had enough, and my parents were very good to us.  I knew, probably by the time I was six, that I would go to college and graduate school, and certainly by the time I was ten I wanted to be a scientist.  (Interestingly, my brother made similar choices.  Our folks are still trying to figure out how a minister and an English teacher ended up producing two computer geeks).
