I was born in New Delhi, India on 24th December, 1973. My father was posted in the small town of Walchandnagar in the state of Maharashtra at the time and that is where I spent my first couple of years. From what my parents tell me, I was very naughty and loved to chase small animals like squirrels, frogs and even grass snakes.
From there on, we moved to Pune where I went to my first school. After that my father moved to Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania for a year and we joined him there. I bet that must have been a fun time for me but I have no memories of it as I was still very young. I have slides and photos from the safaris there and it looks very beautiful. I'd like to go back there someday and see all those places once again.
After that, my father moved once again, this time to Bombay, India and I lived there for a year. We lived right on the coast but the oceanfront was very rocky and not good as a beach. The worst part about living there was the constant smell that came from the fish that the fishermen dried on the rocks each day when they came in. From that time on, I have not been able to stand fish and am still not able to eat it.
My family finally settled down in New Delhi, my hometown and birthplace and there I have been ever since (well, actually till 6 years ago). I went to West Texas A&M University to do my Bachelor's in Computer Science.
I am now in the University of Rochester pursuing a doctoral degree program in the dept. of Computer Science. This is, by far, the coldest place I have ever called home. If you have never visited Rochester in January, you can't even imagine what it is like. Lots and lots of snow, subzero temperatures day and night, lack of sunshine, biting cold wind... it isn't my ideal place for living. However, that's what makes it perfect for graduate studies. You just don't feel like doing anything else.

Those of you who have met me know how devoted I am to my beautiful fiancee. Her name is Samantha Baker and she is originally from Bombay, India but spent some time in Indonesia before coming to the United States. I met her while volunteering as a guide to new international students at West Texas A&M University. She graduated in May 1997 with a BBA degree in Computer Information Systems. She is now in Rochester also and is working as a Programmer/Analyst at Monroe Title Insurance Corporation. She is also working on her M.S. degree in Information Systems Management from the Simon School of Business on a part-time basis. If you are interested in looking at her resume, click right here.
Here are some pictures of her and me in Canyon and New York. I will put up better pictures when I find a better scanner.
