College Writing Center

Greetings from the College Writing Center!

We'd like to introduce our writing support staff. Pamela Bedore is the College Writing Center Coordinator, and Dan Reed is the Writing Fellows Coordinator. We offer free writing consulting services to all members of the college community-undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff. Our consultants will work with you at any point in the writing process, from the "I've got an idea" stage to the polished essay.

We are familiar with writing from a variety of disciplines, including the Social Sciences, Humanities and Natural Sciences. Our staff is available for short class visits to present our services directly to your students. The Writing Center is staffed by graduate-student consultants with extensive teaching and/or tutoring experience. The Writing Fellows are highly trained undergraduates who offer the same services as the graduate writing consultants but unlike graduate consultants are available for walk-in advising during evening hours.

Online tutoring: We offer Write-On, a program that allows writers to receive feedback about their writing via email. More information is available on our webpage: http://writing.rochester.edu/write-on.

College Writing Center information: Individuals wishing to sign up for appointments may call the Center at 273-3577 or stop by our office, Rush Rhees G-121 (in the ITS tunnel). Consultants are available weekdays from nine to five; check the schedule for extended evening hours.

Writing Fellows information: Walk-in advising hours are held in Susan B. Anthony 166 (next to the Friel lounge) on Monday-Wednesday 7-11 pm and Sunday 2-10 pm, and in the ITS Center (upstairs) Monday-Wednesday 7-11 pm and Sunday 6-10 pm.

For a class visit, please e-mail or call with a date and time you would like us to present.
