Tagyoung Chung [tʰaɡjʌŋ ʨəːŋ]

I was a graduate student in Computer Science department at University of Rochester. My advisor was Dan Gildea. My Ph.D. became official in early 2013 and since late 2012, I have been working for Nuance Communications as a research scientist in California. You can still reach me at (my_last_name@cs.rochester.edu)

I go by Tag [tæɡ] among English speakers. Being in NLP, It's a fun name to have.

I am interested in statistical approaches to natural language processing. Most of my research during the Ph.D. program has been on machine translation. My publications generally fall into one of three broad categories: Improving SCFG-based machine translation, using latent information to improve NLP tasks, and improving parameter optimization. Since leaving Rochester, my focus has been more on natural language understanding and less on machine translation.

Here is my CV and research statement.
