Final project
You need to complete a final project for this course. There is no
pre-defined topic for the final project. Any topic is viable as long
as it is substantially related to computer systems. If you already
have a concrete idea on the project topic, please email or speak to
the instructor to briefly describe your topic. If you need assistance
to choose a specific project topic, the instructor will be available
to help you. A good idea for the project is to extend from one of the
course assignments or class discussion topics.
The project will be completed in stages, as indicated by the following
milestones:
- You need to submit a project proposal by
Sunday, April 6. The proposal
should describe the goal of your project, a plan to accomplish the
goal, and a survey of related work. The instructor will provide
you feedback on the proposal.
- You will present your project at the class on either
Tuesday, April 15 or
Thursday, April 17. Although
you do not need to complete your project by the presentation
time, you are expected to show some preliminary results.
Hopefully you will get feedback from the whole class.
- You will turn in a final project report by
Friday, May 2.
In addition to your results and conclusions, it also helps to
explain any negative results or experience your have learnt in the
process (e.g., things that didn't work).
Please pay attention to the readability of your report
(e.g., use clear graphical illustration as much as possible).
You do not need to turn in any source code.
