7.29.96 - Morceli qualifies for the semis of the Olypmics, running 3:41.95 to win his heat.

7.26.96 - For those of you can't wait to see the 1500m Mens' Final, visit the Adidas Site (Morceli's sponsor) and check out the site they do on Adidas-sponsored Olympics athletes.

7.14.96 - Latest word has it that Noureddine Morceli has the flu. Fortunately, he has 15 days to rest up before the first round of the 1500m at Atlanta. The first round starts at 10:45 AM, July 29. Semis are at 6:40 PM, August 1. And the Final is at 8:15 PM, August 3.

7.12.96 - Morceli is currently the leader in the IAAF Grand Prix. Second is Sammy Matete, 4 points behind.

7.11.96 - Morceli ran the fastest 2000m (4:49.55) of the year last night at the Nikaia GP meet.

7.5.96 -Oslo Bislett Dream Mile became the site of Morceli's fastest mile of the year so far (and the world's fastest coincidentally). His 3:48.15 put him clear of 1992 1500m Olympic Gold Medalist Fermin Cacho (Spain) who ran the only other sub-3:50 time this year (3:49.56).

7.3.96 - Probably feeling the effects of his race-heavy schedule, Morceli eaked out yet another victory, this time at Lausanne. His time of 3:30.99 put him 0.88 seconds ahead of Kenya's Stephen Kipkorir.

6.28.96 - After a good three week training session, Morceli returned to the site (Paris) where he broke the 2000m WR last year. Racing the 1500m, Morceli came up short on the WR, but still ran the seventh fastest 1500 ever (3:29.50) and broke his own meet record set in 1994 (3:30.61) .

6.7.96 - Continuing on with his race-packed week, Morceli ran a 3:33.22 to easily hold off the late charge of Laban Rotich at the Moscow GP2 meeting.

6.5.96 - Two days after running the second fastest 1500 in the world this year, Morceli cranked the fastest - 3:30.93 - at the IAAF Golden Grand Prix in Rome.

6.3.96 - Noureddine cranked another 3:32 1500m in winning the Saint-Denis GP II Meet. Second was newbie Driss Mazouzi of Morocco in 3:34.08.

5.25.96 - Morceli notched his 46th consecutive win in the Villeneuve D'Ascq meeting in France. His time of 3:32.05 is the fastest in the 1500m this year. However it should be noted that he avoided a confrontation with Venuste Niyongabo, who ran in another 1500m section minutes before...

5.18.96 - Noureddine Morceli outkicked American Steve Holman for the mile victory at the Atlanta Grand Prix Meet this Saturday. The time (3:50.86) was the fastest on American soil ever, and coincidentally the fastest in the world this year.

5.11.96 - Morceli starts off the 1996 outdoor track season on the right foot, winning the Osaka GP Mile in 3:51.30, the fastest time this year. For more details, check out Morceli's 1996 Season.

Briefly: Who is this guy? The best middle-distance runner in the world ever. He holds the world record in the 1500m (3:27.37), mile (3:44.39), 2000m (4:47.88), and 3000m (7:25.11). So he's no slouch. Hailing from Algeria, this 5'6" superman was voted athlete of the year in 1993 and 1994 by Track and Field News.
