Get Involved
The University has more than 275 student clubs and organizations that offer a chance to bond with kindred spirits and make time outside of classes meaningful.
Affinity Groups
The University has numerous student-led affinity groups that foster professional growth, mentorship, and community engagement. These organizations are open to all students and provide valuable opportunities for students to connect, share experiences, and contribute to an inclusive academic environment. Computing and engineering affinity groups offered on campus include:
- National Society of Black Engineers
- Out in STEM
- Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers
- Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
- Society of Women Engineers
- Women and Minorities in Computing
The department also provides annual financial support for students to attend events such as the Grace Hopper Celebration, the world’s largest gathering of women in tech.
Design Groups
Other student groups focus on designing solutions to real-world problems, providing important experience outside the classroom. Computer science students often get involved in groups including the Google Developer Student Club and UR Robotics.
Computing Community Organizations
The Computer Science Undergrad Council strives to help make their students feel at home in the computer science community. The Computing Interest Floor on the third floor of Anderson Tower offers a residential experience that offers enhanced computing resources and events and projects to get involved with.
