Graduate Alumnus Rajeev Balasubramonian named 2021 IEEE Fellow

January 6, 2021

rajeevFormer URCS PhD student, Rajeev Balasubramonian, has been named an IEEE Fellow and is being recognized for his contributions to in-memory computation and memory interface design. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Professor Balasubramonian received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 2003, advised by Professor Sandhya Dwarkadas. He is now a Professor at the School of Computing at the University of Utah. His research over the years has largely focused on improving the efficiency of data movement between different memory structures. In particular, he explained, “my research group has explored many approaches to integrate computation within or adjacent to memory structures, thus limiting data movement.  My students deserve the lion’s share of the credit for our lab’s work. We have also benefited greatly from the insight of several collaborators and the training I received at U of R.”

Congratulations, Professor Balasubramonian, on this great achievement!
