Getting Experience

Whether you’re pursuing a minor, BA, or BS, our computer science program develops problem-solving, programming, and analytical skills through applied coursework that prepares them for internships, research opportunities, and future pursuits.

Many students also participate in research or teaching assistantships, internships, and student groups. These opportunities help students explore different areas of interests and get a better idea of what they want to pursue post-graduation.

Research Experience

Computer science research at the University of Rochester is characterized by its innovative and interdisciplinary approach to tackling complex real-world challenges. Recent research has studied climate change, color blindness, 3D manufacturing, AI bias, fair elections, and assessing Parkinson's disease.

Internships

Internships allow students to get practical office experience and see what life may be like after graduation. Through these experiences, students gain not just on-the-job skills but also gives students ways to grow their network and connect with possible mentors.

Visit the University’s Internships website for information on how to prepare for and find internship opportunities.
